Clean Hands & Pure Hearts Feeling: Mar. 30, 2006, 7:44 pm
3-28-06 Give us clean hands Give us pure hearts Let us not lift our souls to anotherOh, God, let us be A generation that seeks That seeks your face, Oh God of Jacob We bow our hearts We bend our knees Oh, Spirit, come make us humble We turn our eyes From evil things Oh, Lord, we cast down our idols I thought it was neat that we sang that in chapel today, because recently I've been praying that I will be righteous. For my daily devotion times I'm working on the read through the Bible in a year plan; throughout Proverbs it speaks of the righteous and the wicked, the wise and the foolish. I want to be like the righteous man. I want to have clean hands and a pure heart. Idols. Sometimes we get in the mindset that idols are images of some pagan god that one worships, sacrifices to, etc. In this time period in America, there aren't very many of those around, so we think we're OK in that area. That isn't necessarily true. Other things can be idols. We may not "worship" them, but we are still placing them before God Almighty. Things like TV, video games, computer, fashion, money, popularity...if we're letting these things (or something else) run our lives, if we center our schedules around these things, then they are idols in our lives. Anything that consistently draws us away from growing closer to God is an idol. In our Christian walk, time management and priorities are so important. As I've shared with some of you, I've struggled with that a lot. I've had a lot of trouble keeping a daily devotion time. I've put other things before my relationship with Christ, and I've felt it. I've felt to the very core of my being how neglecting the spiritual changes one's life. (See my resolution.) I want to be His completely, 100%. I want to be holy as He is holy. For that to happen, I've got to cast down all the idols. I've got to straighten out my priorities, and then I have to stick to those priorities. I've got to turn my eyes -- and may I add my ears? -- from evil things. I've got to seek His face. "Seek, and you will find." God has promised that if we do our parts -- if we seek Him, draw near to Him -- He will give us what we're seeking. I want to be a woman of God. I want to be known as one who has searched for God and found Him, who has handed everything over to Him, who is supremely happy in the center of God's will. I want to be pure. Give me clean hands Give me a pure heart Let me not lift my soul to another.Oh, God, let me be A person who seeks Who seeks your face, Oh God of Jacob.
------------------------------Kasey's Questions: Did you consider being in PCS Fim Club? Why aren't you in the film club? No; none of the movies they're watching interested me. If you didn't have chorus last period some days, what class would you take instead? NO FAIR saying study hall! Ha, I don't even know for sure what classes ARE last period! Maybe Family Life for an easy A? Except that's first period. So I have no clue. Coolest birthday present you got this year? Well, it for sure wasn't a car! Um...I'm gonna go with the pretty ring my mom and dad brought back from Hawaii for me. Rudest somebody ever treated you and why? You; you were being sarcastic. (I think that's the rudest anybody's ever been to me, I don't really remember, to tell the truth.) Have you ever hated anybody? Not that I can remember off the top of my head.
