Heaven's Gift
Feeling:

Well, here I am, once again. I was going to start out by saying, "I'm listening to my beloved Air 1," and I had gotten so far as pushing the "Listen Online" button, but then it hit me that the speakers aren't hooked up. Phil took the cord again. Blah. Needless to say, I was disappointed.
I don't have long to be on. At 12:10 I have to leave for a CIA project. So I'll write as much as I can, I have to eat at 11:30, which is 45 minutes away. Mom's letting me have the car! I get to drive myself to school; from there she wants me to ride with either Sarah or Patrick (Sarah is the "adult presence" of the CIA) to where we're going, then I'll drive myself home from school. I'm going to stop on the way home and get the pictures printed off my camera memory card. I discovered that I have to install a program to be able to transfer them to the computer. I was going to have them printed off somewhere anyway, because it's cheaper and easier on me that way.
Anyway.
I guess first I'll follow the shedule I gave you last time and update you on how those things went.
Thursday was the National Honor Society dinner. It was really fun. Um, there's really not that much to say about it...we came to my house, had dinner, and played this really cool game called Shout It! I don't know if you've ever heard of it, it's a DVD game. It was really fun. That took up the rest of the time (we'd decided we'd finish up about 7) so after that everyone left.
Last night's plans changed slightly. My friend Katie turned 18 on the 11th, and for her B-day party she invited all the girls to go see the End of the Spear with her and then have dinner and a sleep-over at her house. Tina and I were the only ones that went to see the movie with her. Kasey met us at Katie's house for dinner. Then we went to a basketball game at my school. That was really fun. I had already decided that I would just go for the movie and dinner, so I arranged to be picked up to go home from school after the b-ball game. Our team lost, but it was still really fun. I really enjoyed the night.
End of the Spear was completely awesome. We're going to see it as a family tonight (I'm not sure if Phil's going yet or not, though). I'm not sure how much you guys have heard about the movie, but you should really go see it. It's emotionally draining, but it's completely worth it. And that's all I can think of to say about it.
Just go see it!!
You know what I just realized? (I was re-reading what I'd written so far, and it just hit me...)
-I'll be 18 in less than 2 months. Crazy. I can't imagine being 18.
For English we had to write a poem about a person. I want to post mine. I'm going to have it framed and put a picture with it and give it to my person. (Actually to her mother, since she's not old enough to understand yet.)
Heaven's Gift
January 11, 2006I see her head of shining ebon curls.
I hold her and spin 'round about in twirls.
This precious girl is just a couple years
Old. Pain hits hard in me upon her tears.
My Jessica, I adore all your ways.
"Geen, purpull, bwue," you chatter on for days.
Her toys are scattered throughout ev'ry room,
She even owns a little baby broom!
"Mm-hm," she says most readily, behold!
I can't wait to see the future unfold!
Her doll has all a real baby would;
She's plummeted to the floor more'n she should!
Her favorite drinks are apple juice and tea.
She makes her baby brother shout with glee.
She'll point to crayons, coloring she loves.
(Her skin is not as white as holy doves.)
Sweet child, I remember th'day you were born,
And if we part, forever I would mourn!
A precious treasure sent from up above,
O Jessie, it's you I will always love!
