Sr. Trip & Banquet
Feeling: The current mood of tobehis at www.imood.com
May. 28, 2006, 5:10 pm

Wow. I've been back from Sr. trip for over a week, and I still haven't gotten time to write! Life is just so busy! (Seems like I've been saying that in every entry these past few months or so.) Anyway. I took my diary on Sr. trip with me, and wrote in it once while in Gatlinburg. So now I'm going to share with you what I wrote.

Monday May 15, 2006 night
We arrived in Gatlinburg for Sr. Trip yesterday evening. As soon as we got to our chalet, I was ready to go home. I'm such a baby. Yesterday night we just stayed at the chalet and ate pizza and "hung out." Pretty much everybody slept in really late. I slept til 9, which is really good for me. Usually I can never sleep past 8 or 8:30. We hiked to Laurel Falls today, then had our lunches at the Chimney Tops picnic area. I was kind of ticked because we didn't leave for hiking until noon. I felt like the entire day was wasted. Tomorrow will be even worse...on the itinerary it's scheduled as a "sleep in" day. We'll have "brunch" and then everybody's going white water rafting. White water rafting has never appealed to me, so from the very start I didn't plan to go. Everybody but Mom has been giving me grief about that, except maybe Tim, because he doesn't want to go, either. I'm not sure if we'll be staying at the chalet or if we actually have to go to the white water rafting place. All I know is that I'll have 3 hours with nothing I have to do; I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. Tomorrow night after they do the rafting we're going to have free time in Gatlinburg to shop and do whatever. Some of us went shopping in Pigeon Forge tonight. I bought a shirt and a polo dress for Jessie and 2 shirts for Joseph. Wednesday morning we're going horseback riding. That evening we're attending a show at The Dixie Stampede. Emily said I'd really like that. I'm hoping that I will.

I have more things on my heart that I could talk about, but I don't know how to put it into words. I'd like to get a shower, but our bathroom (I'm in a room with Katie H. and Rachel N., and it has its own bathroom) has been occupied pretty much nonstop all night. If I can't get in there tonight I might wait til morning to get one, since I'll probably be up long before anyone else. Blah. I hate going on school trips.

Well, since I'm here and there really isn't much else to do, I might as well write about the end of this week. It's been so long since I've written in here, I don't remember if I've talked about Banquet yet or not. So anyway...Jr./Sr. Banquet is this Friday night [May 19], and I've got a "date" with Scott. He asked me sometime in February; I told him "yes" the week after he asked me. I guess I got my dress almost 2 months ago. It's a light royal blue, and it has beads trailing down the front; it's also got beads on the back. It's a spaghetti strap, so Mom found some shimmery blue material and has made a little shawl that attaches to the dress in the front, so I won't have to worry about holding it in place all night. It took forever for Scott and me to get a plan for what we were going to do after Banquet. My parents thought that it wouldn't be the best idea for me to go to the afterparty that was planned, so we had to think of something else. We were going to go to the movies, but nothing good was showing. There was one good movie on, but it stops showing the day before Banquet. How lame is that? So we came up with a Plan B. We're going to rent something to watch at my house. Now we just have to decide what we want to rent! Scott was going to invite Katie and Erik [his cousin and her boyfriend], because they didn't have any plans for after Banquet. I don't know if they're coming or not; Scott hasn't said.

I'm so tired, my classmates are so loud, I want to go home so bad...I definitely need an attitude adjustment!

And since I only made that one entry, now I'm going to have to do some "updating" on it. I actually had a good time on the trip. I had a great time spending time with my classmates. I had no trouble falling asleep at night, even though the majority of my class was still up and about. Sure, there were times when there wasn't anything I could think of to do, and I wasn't very happy, but I wasn't miserable the entire time. Most of the time I was happy, having an enjoyable time. -- Thank you, Lord! -- I had a good time, and I'll have some good memories from that trip. I stayed up as late as I possibly could Monday night, so that I would sleep a little later Tuesday morning. I went to bed around 2, and woke up about 10:15. I was satisfied. Tim and I did have to go to the white water rafting place even though we weren't going to be rafting. I took a book with me. One of the chaperones didn't raft, either; she and I actually rode the bus down to where they put the rafts in the water, and took pictures. Then we returned to the main office area and just waited. We both read. The time passed very quickly. I think Dixie Stampede was my favorite part of the trip. It was really neat! I was definitely ready to get home when we left the chalet Thursday. We stopped in Pigeon Forge for breakfast. (It was actually more like brunch, since it was about 11:15.) Then we drove almost nonstop til we got home. I think we were all ready to be back.

Banquet was nice. I had a very good time. The theme was "Just a Walk in the Park." The decor was like what one would find in an outdoor cafe. It turned out that no one else came to my house for the movie, and Scott and I actually didn't rent a movie; Jon and Shawna have lots of movies, so I borrowed a selection of theirs. It was a lot cheaper that way. :-) We watched The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. I had never seen it before. It was very funny! I'm glad Scott made me watch it, because I probably wouldn't have chosen it on my own.

Throughout the week I've watched several of the other movies that Jon brought over for Scott and me to choose from. I've really enjoyed them!

I'm graduating from high school next Friday. I've been in a state of disbelief. I mean, I just can't be this old! Where on earth has my life gone? It's crazy. It's slightly scary. I have no clue what the future holds for me. I'm graduating. Wow.
