Exciting News

I've been wanting to share some exciting news for a few days now, I just never got around to it.
I'm not sure if you've noticed the banner I have up or not, but I'm going to be an Aunt!!! Jonathan and Shawna are adopting from Guatemala. They signed on with the agency around Easter, and have just been getting the paperwork finished up. Last Wednesday they got a referral for a little girl who was born on July 11th. (The one thing that they asked for specifically was that the baby be as young as possible.) Her birth name is Ana Lucia. At birth, she was 6 pounds even, and exactly 18 inches long. She's so adorable. She has the blackest hair, and the cutest little face...I might be a little biased, though. See for yourself:

It will be at least seven months before they'll be able to bring her home. It could even take as long as 15 months! We're praying that it will be very fast...like, seven months! The average wait before being able to bring the baby home is nine months. Jon and Shawna can go see her as often as they like. I think they plan to go every three months or so, with their first visit being late September or early October. Their dream is that they'll visit her once, then the next time they go they'll be able to bring her home. That might not be the case, though. They haven't picked out a name yet; they have many in mind. They know that they are going to follow the Hispanic tradition of giving the baby four names (three names plus the last name). They are going to keep part of her birth name, as well. They'll probably end up hyphenating Ana Lucia (making it Ana-lucia, or Ana-Lucia). As soon as they pick the name, the foster family she's with will begin using that name, so that she will get used to it. I'm so, so, so, so, so, so, SO excited! Of course, all of us are.
But wait! That's not all the exciting news I have! (Although, admittedly, I am most excited about that news. hehe)
Kasey's getting married! She got engaged this past Wednesday. [I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to give away here, so I'm going to keep it simple...] I can't believe we're old enough to be getting married. She's asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. Sunday was the girls' first trip out shopping for wedding/bridesmaid dresses. She found the perfect dress for her, and we also found our bridesmaid dresses. How amazing is that?! Tonight after work I'm meeting Mom at the bridal store to order my dress and try one on for her so she can see it.
OK, I have to get back to work...lunch break is over.
With all this excitement, needless to say I've been a little giddy. :-P
